Jake Huard, by the ship builders family, asserted his dying mum he'ld make it into Anapolis Naval Academy. Bugging a Congressman, he has chosen despite questionable grades. Once inside, Jake soon proves sub-standard academically. Constantly challenged to his own constraints, repeatedly left the'over-cocky' reason behind the class to suffer, Jake almost quits, but after confronting his completely un supportive dad's gloating returns only in time.
